James Leslie “Bo” Hargis, Sr., 72, died Sunday, May 2, 2021. He was born in Boyle County on July 12, 1948 to the late Edward Leslie and Audrey Bryane Leigh Hargis. Bo was a graduate of Boyle County High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1969 – 1972, with two tours in Vietnam. Bo was a member of DAV, American Legion, VFW of Danville, and the Patriot Guard of Kentucky. He enjoyed reading, camping, crappie fishing, and tinkering. He could do or fix anything. Bo was kind, well mannered, patient and a gentleman. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters, Linda Case and Judith Mehok.

He is survived by his children: Candace (Michael Lopez) Scott of Danville, James Leslie Hargis, Jr. “JimBo” of Florida, Stephanie Marie (Jeff) Gilbert of Illinois, Melissa Ann Hargis of Georgetown, Bree Kunz of Texas; a brother: Michael Allen Hargis of Stanford; three sisters: Barbara Satterly of Danville, Margaret Ann Daugherty of Danville, Bonnie Sue Miracle of Lexington; his grandchildren: Aimee Raider, Brandon (Sarah Reed) Graham, Stephany Harrison, Kolby Dunn, Taylor Lauren Hargis, and Nathan James Hargis ; his aunt: Margie Hargis Smith of Georgetown and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Graveside Service will be 11 am, Friday, May 14, 2021 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Rev. Michael Hargis and Rev. Kyle Stachewicz will officiate. Visitation will be 9 am – 10 am, prior to the service, Friday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to Gethsemane Baptist Church.
