Helen Burke Benge Montgomery, 85, died April 28, 2021 in Danville. Born February 15, 1936 in Garrard County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Benge and Lucy Dudley Evans Benge. Helen worked for 23 years at Palm Beach then for many years at Whirlpool. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter Major Montgomery.

Helen grew up in Salt River Baptist Church and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church since 1959. Helen is survived by her son, Raymond (Lynn) Montgomery of Danville; her daughter, Debbie (Mike) Montgomery Henley of Frankfort; her four grandchildren, Tonya (Eddie) Wilcher, Jessica (Dylan) Merrick, Jessica (Donnie) Harp, Autumn (Chris) Hardin; her seven great-grandchildren, Sierra Leach, Kelsey Harp, Jordan Conley, Shelby Montgomery, Tristan Harp, Maranda Hardin, and Wyatt Wilcher.

Public visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm, Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 1pm, Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Rev. Kyle Stachewicz and Rev. Mark Payton will officiate. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chris Hardin, Donnie Harp, Tristan Harp, Bobby Gene Montgomery, Scott Montgomery, Ted O’Canna and honorary pallbearers will be the Open Door Sunday School Class.
