Beloved son of Everett and Kate Evans, he was born February 16, 1934 and died September 19, 2018.

He was a graduate of Bracken County High School (1951) and Cincinnati Bible Seminary (1954).

He served in located ministries in Kentucky from 1952 through 1975 at Powersville Christian Church, New Corinth Christian Church, First Christian Church (Springfield), Northern Heights Christian Church (Lexington), and South Louisville Christian Church. Early in his ministry he was instrumental in the establishment of Camp Calvary.

Though he left the located ministry, he continued to serve the Church as Director of Christian Restoration Association, and Administrator of Mason Christian Village in Cincinnati, OH. He continued to support his Alma Mater as a Trustee of Cincinnati Bible College.

Sherwood returned home to Kentucky to serve as CEO of Sayre Christian Village in Lexington. After his retirement, he relocated to Danville where he lovingly supported Indian Hills Christian Church as Executive Minister and teacher of the Kum-Join-Us class.

But his greatest joy was being the husband of Ermalene (Fralix) for 63 years; father of Janna Sue Rigney (Danny), Leah Evans, and Tina Jackson (Stuart); grandfather of Emily Rigney Wright (Josh), Daniel Evans Rigney, Wyatt Powell Jackson, and Cooper Fralix Jackson; great-grandfather of Kylie Rhae Wright.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday September 24, 2018 at Indian Hills Christian Church in Danville, with visitation at the church on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Sayre Christian Village or Indian Hills Christian Church.
