Gertrude Adams McGuffey, 91, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 9, 2022. She was born to Willis G. Adams and Floie Taylor on June 22, 1931 in Franklin, Indiana. Her family eventually moved to Danville, Kentucky where she lived until her death.

Gertrude worked at Burke’s Bakery for over 30 years during which she made the donuts, cakes, and pastries you all love. She was also an excellent knitter and left behind many throws her family will treasure for years to come. She was a devout Christian and member of Southern Avenue Baptist Church.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Albert Lee Adams, Benton C. Adams, Hazel Adams Kane, her granddaughter Bridget Evans, and her son-in-law Roy Goins. She is survived by her five loving children: Pam Muncy (Lucian), Donna Grant (Mike), Melinda Goins, Flo Downs, and Keith McGuffey (Julie). Her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren will remember her always as their “Nana” and “Grandma Guff.”

Visitation will be held at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City on July 15, 2022 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM with a funeral service at 1:00PM; private burial to immediately follow at Bellevue Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. Please sign the online guestbook or send a Hugs from Home.
