Sally Frances Mattingly Steinberger, 75, died January 2, 2021. Fran was born on November 14, 1945 in Washington County to the late Robert and Martha Ann Cheser Mattingly. She worked as a seamstress for Palm Beach Co., and a certified nursing assistant at Thompson Hood Veterans Center and McDowell Place. She loved going to church, visiting the Smokie Mountains, visiting family, and attending Aliceston Camp Meetings. She enjoyed cooking and loved her dogs. Fran was a people person and loved to laugh. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her ten siblings: Walter Mattingly, Armond Mattingly, Leroy Mattingly, Robert “Bobby” Mattingly, Earl Mattingly, Billy Joe Mattingly, Harvey Porter Mattingly, Joyce Durr, Margerite Hyde and Mary Wood McElfresh.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Glen Steinberger; numerous nieces and nephews including Robbie Mattingly, Rhonda Engler, Betty Shelden, Willie Mattingly, David Mattingly; and two special cousins, Pam and Gary Phillips.
The funeral service will be 1 pm Wednesday January 6, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City with Rev. JR Fields, Dwight Coffman and Rev. Donald Lear officiating. Pallbearers will be Archie Curtis, Bobbie Wilson III, John Shelden, Robbie Mattingly, Willie Mattingly, and Dustin Phillips. The honorary pallbearer will be Rev. Don Lear. Visitation is from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service. Memorial donations are suggested to Pleasant Run Baptist Church or Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
