Duke Marvin Pope, 77, died peacefully Monday, September 6, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Mitchellsburg, Kentucky on May 26, 1944, to the late John Howard and Mamie O. Cowans Pope. Duke was a Danville High School graduate and former employee at KJZZ in Utah, being elected as employee of excellence twice. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, talking with family and friends, walking, riding his bike and cutting up with loved ones. Duke absolutely adored his family and was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and stepfather. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, James Douglas Pope; three brothers, John H. Pope, William Eugene Pope, Cecil Pope; three sisters, Patsy L. Young, Emma Pearl McCormick and Virginia Louis Ellington; an ex-wife and friend, Kitty Marie McKinzy McGill and his fiancée, Pearlie Baskin Lee.

He is survived by his love, Tina White; one son, Marvin Lee Porter; a sister, Katherine Robinson; stepchildren, William Welch, Evette Norris, Joshua White, Jordan White, Orlando ‘Johnny’ Byrd, Ronald Broston, James Clay; 32 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; special little buddies, Zion and Catalina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
