Dorothy Montgomery Naylor Jarboe, 77, of Danville, died Monday, January 25, 2021 in her home at Morning Pointe Senior Living. Born January 2, 1944 in Parksville, she was the daughter of Robert Jefferie Montgomery and Maggie Ellen Honaker Montgomery. She was a graduate of Forkland High School, the former Vice President of Teller Operations at Farmers National Bank, and after retiring she was active in the Ephraim McDowell Hospital Auxiliary. Dot loved Jesus, was a member of The Carpenters Christian Church where she was involved with Spirit Lifters and enjoyed traveling to hear gospel music. She was a wonderful cook and loved feeding her family and friends. Dot was the biggest Elvis fan and loved UK men’s basketball. She used her spiritual gifts of generosity and serving others and she used them well! Her door was always open to welcome any visitor earning her the nickname of “Momma Dot”. We know she was welcomed home with open arms and “Well done, good and faithful servant!” She was preceded in death by both parents, her spouses, James Naylor and Chester Jarboe and siblings Leona Montgomery, Beulah Montgomery, Robert Montgomery Jr., Buford Montgomery and Carol Montgomery.
She is survived by her daughters, Tara Short (Robin) of Harrodsburg and Tina Bradley (James) of Crestwood; grandchildren Kara Bradley, Kaitlyn Bradley, Zak Pruitt, Kaycee Short and Jonah Short; her brothers Carl Montgomery (Susie) of Stanford, Bernard Montgomery (Carolyn) of Danville, and sisters Jean Cummins, Sue Anderson (Dudley) and Betty Proffitt (Daniel), all of Danville.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 29 at The Carpenters Christian Church. The funeral will be live streamed on Stith Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Pastors Greg Warren and John Kessel will officiate. Pallbearers will be Zak Pruitt, Jeremy Burke, Steve Bechtel, David Montgomery, Shadow Clark, and Riley Burke. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Morning Pointe and all of her nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Masks will be required and social distancing observed. Interment will be in Lancaster Cemetery. The family suggests donations to The Carpenters Christian Church, the Morning Pointe Foundation, Heritage Hospice or Gideons International. Please sign the guestbook and Hugs from Home cards.
