Clyde Edward Rogers, 68, of Danville, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was born in Fairmont, West Virginia on March 15, 1949 to the late David Roosevelt and Ermel Marie Groggs Rogers. Clyde was a 1968 graduate of Danville High School, and helped lead 1968 DHS Boys Basketball team to the state tournament. He served in the Marines in 1969 to 1971. He was employed as an auto mechanic with Nicholas Service Center in Danville. Clyde attended Calvary Baptist Church, and was an attendee of the Open Door Sunday School Class. He was very athletic, enjoying bowling, fishing, and golfing. Clyde was a member of VFW and the American Legion. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles. Clyde loved his family, especially his two grandbabies. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Billy Rogers, and Paul Richard ‘Tommy’ Rogers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lou Nicholas Rogers; one son, Clyde II (Lisa) Rogers of Danville; one daughter, Missy (Brian) Angolia of Danville; two brothers, James (Oleta) Rogers of Candler, NC, Kenneth (Lillian) Rogers of Louisville, KY; two granddaughters, Chessie Elizabeth Rogers and Madeline Jean Angolia; his father-in-law, Chester Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 11am, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, Danville. Rev. Brent Rowe and Rev. Curt Herrington will officiate. Pallbearers will be Danny Bryant, Dean Sapp, David Arnold, Larry Sanders, Tony Albiero, and J.B. Hinkle. Honorary pallbearers will be the Open Door Sunday School Class, Charlie Brown, Mike Bell, Joe Ruby, Don Sinkhorn, Herb Toombs, and Bobby Bell. Interment will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4pm-8pm, Monday, September 18, 2017, Calvary Baptist Church. Memorial donations are suggested to Calvary Mission Trip Fund and Wounded Warrior Project.
