Charlotte Kay Royalty, 60, died, Sunday, November 26, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Born August 23, 1957 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Alfred D. and Allene Johnson Royalty. Charlotte was a 1975 graduate of Danville High School and attended Morehead State University. She graduated from the Gulf Shore School of Floral Design. She is a member of the American Society of Florists. Charlotte was a talented floral designer for 36 years, and was the co-owner of Imperial Flowers in Lexington. She was an inspiring force in her field, and gave generously of her time and talents to mentor numerous aspiring floral designers during her career. She had a strong sense of purpose, and strived to bring love and beauty into the world. She was compassionate and caring, and had a natural ability to connect with people, in both her professional and personal life. She approached life with an open heart and treated others with love and acceptance. Her life-long affection for animals made beloved pets a constant presence in her life and she shared her home with many special ‘babies’ over the years. She was free-spirited and fearless, and seized opportunities to make the most of the moments she was given. She loved to travel, most notably to Paris and London in recent years. She possessed a quiet dignity and strength of character that was evident throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love carried forward by the many people whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her devoted wife, Gayle Stockdale and their three Boston Terriers, Maggie Grace, Stella Ann and Chloe Renee; a sister, Janice Royalty and an aunt, Jean Johnson.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, at Stith Funeral Home. Lea Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt Elliott, Greg Stratton, David Oldham, Michael Ketterer, Alan Warneke, Susie Stammer, Annie Rardin, Chelsea Timm and Mary Brainard. Visitation will be from 11-1 Thursday prior to the service. Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice, Danville-Boyle Co. Humane Society or the Phoenix Institute.
