Charles Raymond `“Ray” Walters, 92, died Friday, January 17, 2020. He was born in Coles County, Illinois on April 12, 1927 to the late James Garfield and Jennie Dale Creekbaugh Walters. He was a member of the Danville Nazarene Church. Ray was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army and a retired Truck Driver for ANR Freight Distributor. He loved fishing, people, boating, the lake and the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Kelly Walters and Bill Walters, two sisters Alta Reid and Nancy Harbough and a daughter-in-law, Libby Powell.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Sheperson Walters and their children: Michael L. (the late Libby) Powell of Bradfordsville, Ky, Alvin Ray (Tammie) Powell of Danville, Ky., Wanda (the late Edmund C.) Wist of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Bonnie (Rob) Petersilge of Youngsville, North Carolina and Kathy (Jamie) OBryan of Bardstown, KY; sixteen grandchildren, Chastity (Kevin) Gribbins, Kelly (Jeremy) Cissell, Justin (Emily) Powell, Kasi (Cody) Porter, Jeremy (Amy) Lay, Ryan (Jenny Boling-Lay) Lay, Edmund Charles (Heather) Wist, Julia Wist, Christine (Ted) Vanlandegham, Marc (Stephanie )Seibert, Tamara Seibert, Shawn (Jesse) Petersilge , Anna (Stuart) Benningfield , Aaron Gordon, Joshua Nathan OBryan, Christy (Donald) McCarty and twenty-five great grandchildren, Amanda (Peter), Megan, Levi, Joe, Sarah, Ashley (Craig), Nicholas, Dominic, Alice, Preston, Stella, Emily, Paul, Trinity, Ann Kaitlin, Lani, Michael, Alexander, Davidson, Easton, Carson, Elena, Andrew David, Cazemier and Elba; and three great-great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ella and Tyler.

The funeral service will be 1 pm, Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Brother Keith Greer will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville. Pallbearers will be Rob Petersilge, Marc Seibert, Eddie Wist, Justin Powell, Michael Powell, Aaron Gordon, Jamie OBryan, Lonnie Travillian and Shawn Petersilge. Visitation will be 11 am – 1 pm, prior to the service on Tuesday at the Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
