Carl Robert Wertz, 72, of Danville, Kentucky, died Friday, May 5, 2017. Born September 27, 1944, in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Carl and Lorraine Thompson Wertz. Carl was a retired United States Navy veteran, serving from 1962 to 1966. He served as a Lieutenant on the Cincinnati Police Department for 17 years.

Carl is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kloentrup Wertz of Danville, Kentucky, a son, Jay (Kathy) Wertz of Cincinnati, Ohio, two step-sons, John W. (Gina) Crowe, III, of Florence, Kentucky, and David (Nikki) Crowe of Liberty Township, Ohio, two daughters, Kelly (Kevin) Harris of Palestine, Texas and Jennifer L. Wertz of Rockford, Michigan, two brothers, Rick (Jean) Wertz of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Randy (JoAnne) Wertz of Osh Kosh, Wisconsin, one sister, Linda (Don) Noes of Hamilton, Ohio, and four grandchildren, Alexander and Jackson Wertz, and Payton and Kody Harris. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tanner Harris.

The Funeral Mass will be 12 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2017, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Danville. Father Allan Carter will officiate. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
