Bobby Allen Shields was born May 11, 1949, in Carrollton, Kentucky to the late Allen Caviness and Thelma Lee Smith Shields. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with an Associates Degree. Bobby served in the United States Army and was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. He worked as a design draftsman for 36 years starting at Rexnord, Matthews, and lastly FKI Logistics. He was always helping friends with computers and would volunteer working at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church office. Bobby was known for being very social and loved being around people. He was also known for having a black belt in Sho Dan Karate. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, woodworking, and metal craft. Bobby worked on his pilot’s license, loved motorcycles and cars.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Becky Underhill Shields; two daughters, Janette (Andrew) Schaedel, and Kimberly (John Mark) Robbins; son, Justin (Cortney Curtsinger) Shields; three grandchildren, Brayden Shields, John Harley Robbins, and Riley Schaedel; five sisters, Linda (Eb) Burns, Diane (Bill) Thompson, the late Betty Jones, Janice (Bo) Stewart, and Bonnie Shields; brother, David Shields; and his nieces and nephews.

He died July 8, 2022 in Louisville, Kentucky. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2022 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Rev. Bruce Underhill will officiate. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Underhill, Dean Underhill, Andy Schaedel, John Mark Robbins, Preston Wright, and Ray Pelayo. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
