Was our honor to know Don for many years. At least 50 years from work to church. Always enjoyed talking to him, as well as listening to his playing.

Uncle Donnie was a great man 🙂 I used to spend summers in Danville for Bible school. My Papaw Garland would pick me up & I’d stay w Nora. Aunt Norma & Uncle Donnie lived rt across the street so I spent as much time there as I did at Nora’s. I remember Papaw & Uncle Donnie cuttin up & teasin me. I love u Aunt Norma, Donna, Tim, Todd, Tyler, Savannah, everybody! Sending lots of hugs & prayers. I love u Uncle Donnie! Please hug my Papaw for me.

I am not supposed to have a favorite uncle, but if I did it would be Donnie Smothers! Don started encouraging me when I first entered ministry. He called me and talked & ministered to me during my prostate cancer in 2008. Teresa and I so enjoyed our times having lunch at Cracker Barrel in Danville with my two sisters and their husbands, and Donnie and Norma! We love you all and are praying for that peace that passes all understanding for Todd, Donna, Tim and their families. Norma we love you all!

Mr. Smothers was a fine person, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In the few short years I’ve known him I’ve seen how very much he was loved by his family. I’m so sorry, Norma, for the loss of your husband. Savannah, I’m so sorry for the loss of your Papaw. I love you and Gods arms are around you. Love, Heather
